Dogs are excellent & loyal loving companions.
They reduce our stress levels & cheer us up when we feeling blue.
They also keep us healthy & active by giving us lots & lots of love &
affection.
And in returns they need to be loved & cared for.
The general rule is to adopt a puppy when She/He is around 8-10 weeks old.
Breed: The pup should have the breed characteristics.
Pedigree: Pedigree is normally maintained up to 4-5 generations.
Both parents should be registered with the recognized KENNEL CLUB.
Seek help of your local Breeders/Veterinarian in selecting a GOOD puppy of
your choice.
Common signs, which are helpful at the time of selection:

The puppy should be alert, active, lively & curious.

The eyes should be bright, clear & free from any discharge.

Look inside the ears & confirm that there is no wax.

The nose should be clean, moist & shining.

The skin coat should feel soft, smooth & smell free. It shouldn't be dry &
scaly.

Body coat should be free from any sores, cuts & parasites.

Abdomen should not be pot bellied.

Check the rear of the puppy for any infections OR diarrhoea marks.

Finally check the temperament of the puppy by holding it in the hands.

She/He should not be too aggressive OR too scared.

She/He must feel comfortable, curious & playful in your hands.

After 7 OR 8 years, your pet is considered as a senior member of the family,
so regular health checkup is must.
